Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen – cinemas were packed
All 4 cinemas in Ayala Center Cebu were packed with movie goers last Saturday (June, 27, 2009) waiting for their turn to watch the movie, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. In the photo below, my wife and I are part of that long line and that’s just one cinema.
Now I’m not going to write about how good or bad the movie is. What I’d like to talk about are the groups of people who watched the movie. I’d like to group them into the following.
A. The Transformers (people who know what transformers are)
B. The Non-Transfomers (people who don’t know what transformers are)
Group A is further divided into 2 sub-groups.
A1. The Elites
– The people who know everything about transformers.
– A.k.a the transformer geeks. (much like the StarWars geeks)
– Usually the group that give most of the negative comments about how bad the movie is. Being the elites, they are only few in numbers, but because most of these geeks have access to blogs, googling Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen movie review and you will end up with rants about the movie, giving you a negative expectation of the movie.
– I think the only part they love in this movie is Megan Fox and they probably have her on their desktop wallpaper now.
A2. The average transfomer people
– They know about transformers but don’t know all their names.
– They love robots and sci fi movies.
– They want to see Transformers in a “Live Action” movie and usually keep an open mind.
– Most of them love the movie.
– There are a few of them who are wanna be Elites and since most Elites say they hate this movie, they’ll also hate this movie because their “idol, transformer elite geek” blogger says so.
B. The Non-Transformers Group.
– Girlfriends
– Wives
– And some next generation kids who are too influenced by the recent anime movies.
– Most of them like the movie. It has action, humor and story even a non-transformer person won’t feel out of place.
Me, I belong to A2 group and I love the movie. It was well worth the wait (long line in the picture) and the money.
